Can your mother-in-law get you rich?
Right now I’m busy doing a little "homework" in preparation for my upcoming 4 day "Build-a-Biz" challenge on April 21-24.
(That’s when I’ll be releasing a brand-new FREE video training series showing you how to build a money-making website in just 4 days flat – by doing it myself, right before your eyes!)
… No, I’m NOT trying to cheat by getting some of the work ahead of time!
I’m just trying to come to the table prepared to work as efficiently and effectively as possible.
And I urge YOU to do the same!
See, whenever someone asks for help in starting their own business, I ALWAYS tell them this:
Begin by examining your own skills and interests.
… And so that’s what I’m busy doing right now!
In my experience, people who build their business around their own personal interests or experience almost always tend to achieve success FASTER than people who don’t.
It makes sense when you think about it…
People who follow their passions are the ones who are most motivated to do the work necessary to grow and improve their businesses.
So in order to make sure you’re ready to make the most of what I’m about to teach you on April 21-24…
– so you too can set up a money-making website in less than a week! –
… I urge you to sit down and create a list of YOUR top 3-5 skills or interests.
That way, you can put your learning to work right away!
"But I don’t HAVE any unique skills or interests!"
… That’s something I often hear from people who are just getting started online.
To them I say, "You’re not looking hard enough!"
Unique skills and interests can come in a variety of surprising forms…
For example, knowing how to pass the exam required to become a firefighter is a skill on which you could base a money-making website. So is quilting, or collecting model trains, or kicking a bad habit like smoking or biting your nails.
Even knowing how to deal with a pushy mother-in-law is a skill you could use to make money online!
(Don’t worry mom — I’m not talking about you.
If you honestly believe you have no valuable skills or knowledge, you’re selling yourself short. I’m certain that absolutely every single person on the PLANET has some kind of specialized knowledge or experience that could become the foundation of a website that SELLS.
However, if you find it difficult to pinpoint exactly what that specialized knowledge or experience is, don’t worry! You’re certainly not alone. A lot of people have trouble figuring out what makes them "tick."
You simply need to think about your life experiences.
Create a list of all the jobs you’ve ever had… all the hobbies you’ve ever pursued… all the volunteer work you’ve ever done… all the times you’ve helped someone and felt really good about it… all the challenging situations you’ve had to overcome in your life.
Then go through that list and pinpoint where your particular skills and interests lie.
Sound difficult? Don’t worry, I’m going to make it easy by giving you…
"Derek Gehl’s ‘Special Skill Finder’ Questionnaire!"
The following questions are designed to get you thinking about what really matters to YOU. Be sure to print this list up and write your answers down — you’re going to want to refer to them later.
- Do you play any sports?
- If you had a million dollars and a week’s worth of free time, what would you do? List the first activities that come to mind.
- What websites do you visit when you’re just "surfing around" online? What topics do these cover?
- Have you ever won a trophy or award? What for?
- Have you ever been recognized for a contribution of services? What did you do?
- Do you have pets? What kinds?
- Do you have kids? What do you like best about being a parent? What do you find most challenging?
- Do you have any specialized education? Have you ever taken a class in a subject like pottery or sailing? Do you have any kind of academic continued education?
- Have you ever volunteered anywhere? What did you learn through this experience?
- Have you ever gone through a particularly challenging experience, and come out of it stronger than ever? What was that challenge, and what did you do to overcome it?
- What lifetime accomplishment are you most proud of? What did you learn from this experience?
- Do you have firsthand knowledge of any medical illnesses or issues? If so, which ones?
- Do you collect anything? If so, what?
- What television shows do you enjoy? What kind of music do you listen to? Do you ever attend theater events or other events related to "the Arts"?
- Is there anything you’ve always really wanted to do or learn more about, but just haven’t had the time?
Once you have finished, go over your answers to these 15 questions, paying special attention to the ones that got the strongest positive response from you.
These are the areas that are most likely to lead you to the ideal market you should target with your business.
Now narrow your list down to 3 to 5 topics you’re truly passionate about. These topics are going to be the starting point of your research.
… So there’s your "homework!"
Make sure you come to the table on April 21st with your list of topics in hand.
You’ll find it MUCH easier to understand how to apply what you’re learning to your OWN website if you already have some research topics to use as a starting point.
… And if you haven’t already registered for my FREE 4 day "Build-a-Biz" video training series, click here to do so NOW.
To your success,
Derek Gehl

Hi Derek
I like the 15 point you have listed to challenge one to come up with an idea upon which they can base to start their own business.
Really, the truth is that everyone is an expert in a given area. There is always that one or more things that we all know and can be able to do well compared to someone else.
So why not use that to build a business. Thank you for your great post.
For me, the short cut to being rich is to marry a millionaire. I know a popular millionaire dating site–millionairelover.com. Even a celebrity find his love there!
“But I don’t HAVE any unique skills or interests!”
Yeah, I’ve heard myself say that a few times and certain close relations more than once. There’s the assumption, that a lot of us make, that we have to be experts in our fields before we can write anything, or we’ll be laughed at. How could anyone possibly be interested in anything I might have to say?
Sometimes it takes quite an effort to get past that. I guess you couild call it the “You have to be a black belt before you can start talking about Martial Arts” syndrome.
Maybe that’s one reason that PLR articles are so popular.
I’d add one more item to your list: What activities do you engage in when the work and chores are done? That would catch the video gamers and the board games and the walks in the parks and so on.
Thanks for an very useful post. I’m looking forward to the videos.
I am just excited about the opportunity to go through the steps of setting up a website and thank you in advance for your offer. For the last one week I have been trying in vain to start one, so this offer comes very timely. I look forward for more info.
I’ve had a few websites in the past but never expanded with them. Seems like they didn’t lead me to the next step how trivial they thought it may be. So I’m going to see what yours is like. Oh yea I don’t have a credit card or a bank account so does this leave me out? I’m a retired mechanic, jack of all trades, master of none. so can you make an exception in my case or will I be cast by the wayside?
Thankyou and later… James
I am looking forward to the 4 day project. I have been very enthused and excited in finding the niche or hobby in my quality traits and by letting it stand out on a website. This will be so great in using the very inspiring gift that I have. I know that I love to help others, actually that is something that should be born inside of us all. I see that you really enjoy helping cause if you didn’t then you could care less for showing your four videos. But I want to personally thank you for the extended opportunity that you are giving us that should actually be a fortune.
Hi Derk
The points u mentioned is one easy guideline for anyone to findout what is good in then that can be converted to a money making opportunity.
Now this is interesting. I do not have a web site or a blog. I would love to have a blog started and that should be made in to a money making one. I hope u will be able to throw some light in the simplest way with ur ers of xperience.

I’ve spent quite a few thousand on this website, but have not made any money. Can you help me? Thanks
Hello Derek: I think this is a really great idea for the videos and teaching people. I want to learn how to do this as well.I tried for many years and just gave up on it because all of the help or information i needed to get started, just wasn`t there for me. So i put up a different type of website instead. But my website isn`t making me any money, so i must be doing something wrong with it. I can`t wait to see your videos. Until Then Thanks Beverly
Great motivating article and tips. The questions were spot on to get you thinking about what you are an expert on. Sometimes it is a lack of confidence holding us back… and it is wonderful when you find your wings in terms of expertise and fly. Looking forward to your new course.
Jeanne
Derek,
I came to your website from a reference in another website. I am so glad that I did. The company I work for just been acquired and I will be losing my job in 8 weeks. I thought this is a perfect time to see if there is a way I can use my creative talents and get paid for them. I appreciate that you have put this offer out there and I am grateful for the opportunity to participate.
Thanks so much,
Kelly
Great post Derek!
I’m really looking forward to the videos. But I’m also really glad you’ve given us this homework before-hand. Often I find on a project like this I get asked this question during the project – whoa that can just freeze me, and prevent me from continuing because I have a hard time with this one.
On the one hand, probably like most people I don’t think there is anything I’m a real expert at. On the other hand, I find it really hard to narrow down my interests. So at least now I have my homework set out for me, as well as the ‘due date’. I feel like this I can do! Your questionnaire is great, I appreciate having some guidelines to follow.
Thank you for taking on this project and presenting it for free!

Hi Derek,
Once again you have outdone yourself!
I am a very happy graduate of your 5-day Intensive Internet Business Builder Mentoring Program and I am thrilled that you will be showing us videos of yourself building a profit generating business online!
Your new Be Biz software will really take the pain out of starting your own profitable business online.
Thank-you so much for all you do,
Your incredibly loyal customer and student,
Amanda van der Gulik…..Excited Life Enthusiast!
In my 70 years, I have quite a list of talents. Sewing & designing clothing, embroidery, crochet, quilting, making table linens, designing bedroom ensembles, needlepoint, blue jeans that fit correctly or so my sons say, men’s suits, jackets, shirts, pants, pillows both large & small, decorative & plain; cooking, recipes, secretarial duties, receptionist’s duties, differing kinds of dictation there has been in the past 50 yrs.; a recap of types of bookkeeping from
the small individual business to the multi-million and billion dollar businesses.
Difference in the looks and models of T.V’s, radios, phones, varying ways of communication in the last 60 years. Fashions in the past 60 years. Health and herbs and medications , types, what they can do, the effects, and the importance of vitamins. Herbs are essential. Attitude and how it effects a person. Philosophy, religion, the pros & cons of different periods in history. How women
have advanced in world affairs in the last 60 years. Classical music. Did you know that the background music or themes for movies are classical or will be classics. What brings excitement, victory, happiness, love, wealth to a person are
all topics. Multi- Marriages in early Mormonism. Multi-Marriages in one’s life ( I have had 4 marriages. Differences in your Partners through-out your life. What kind of books do you like? How many books do you have and what subjets do they cover. (I have approximately 4,000 books.) Types of movies you like.
i have 26 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, Your relations to them or your children, the differences in people, or how people are so much alike. Motherhood. Being the head of a family. Having to be independent and on your own. Difficulties of Life. The Joys of Life. How change is the time of adaptation
I hope I have given you one or two topics for articles. Use some of them if you
like. However, I try to help you gather the material for some of them if you like.
Maybe I should write my life story, but first maybe I should write some stories of my marriages because I’ve already been told that my life is a very interesting soap opera. Yesterday, I was ready to give up, but the fight has renewed itself
in relating to you. I’ll bet BC is beautiful and I wish I could come up there and meet you in person. What is your SunSign is another topic, or have a website on the sunsigns so people could find out about themselves, by finding out about
each sign and the different phases of the moon ,etc. or maybe have it automated
so that a small zodiac for each day of the year could be shown or downloaded. I
have plenty of books on horoscopes & the zodiac if we had some of that software
that could make anything kind of program for you – Just a thought and now I have
had two other ideas for websites that people would flock to, but they are like games. I believe you have me brainstroming. Good-night to you. Ethel (You inspire me!)
Wow I am so excited about this. I seem to be in learning overload and am feeling completely overwhelmed. I keep reading/learning and still can’t seem to get myself to actually start doing anything. There must be a name for this type of snydrome. I seem to be obsessed with reading about the next exciting opportunity and wondering if this is the one that’s going to make money for me. I pay to join some of them and like I say, just end up feeling overwhelmed. And of course some of what I joined ended up being scams. I think most of us trying to get started have experienced that. I learn by seeing (more than by reading) – maybe this will be the catayst to get me going. Thank you so much Derek. I’m sure this will be a great help to many many of us.

I would like to open a membership site and i hope i would be shown how this is done.
Can anyone give me advice on this, i am very grateful for your kindness
Hey Derek ta for your email. When I first joined I watched your live introduction video but halfway thru it stopped I think it had a clitch so was cheezed off because I was quite taken by your so far life experiences which I’m sure many would identify with some of it anyway, so I’m looking forward to the next one plus you are going to show us how to make money on the internet!? awesome that’s going to be my challenge but not my reason. Oh yes if anyone visits my website I haven’t finished setting it up just learning as I go along but if Derek is going to teach us how to make money then I can add to my site. Cheers
Hi Derek
This is something I dreamed of for a long time – will you be making the video training series available on DVD at any time?
Thank you for all your advise and I look forward to watching your video training series.
Kind Regards from the United Kingdom
Derek,
I hope I’m not too late in getting this info as I just received it on the 20th.
Anyway, my eyes will be glued to your “project” as I’ve been out of work since the end of Nov ‘07 and wages here suck – but one can’t beat the beautiful countryside of Western NC. Hmmm… there’s an idea
…
Also, I’ve been studying the Law of Attraction for quite some time now and have come to accept that there are no coincidences. In fact, the email that led me to check out this “project” was the first one I opened this a.m. (21st).
Since playing “mental” jujitsu for the past 10+ years at wanting to set up my own site (the income is unlimited…), I’ve not found one source that actually shows one where to start (until now) – unless one has the $$ and time to take a Community College Course. This is truly a “Godsend”.
Most people would have given up by now – going through all that I have – what with everyone’s head shaking and smirks when I’ve told them I’m setting up my own ’site… Now, maybe I’ll get some “clients” of my own – if I can peel myself away from all of the “fun” I’m about to have.
Thanks loads…
Sincerely,
Robert
hello dereck,
thank you very much for sending me this email.this has really helped the very confused mind to come little bit in order as regards how to make your website and make money online.i am seriously looking forward to seeing your 4day-BUILD A BIZ.
Hello Derek, I am from Germany and I am very interested to see, if your plans changes from brain to hand (or from the idea to the result). I wish you good luck.
