Google AdWords is a pay-per-click advertising program — and the main source of Google’s revenue. AdWords offers pay-per-click and contextual advertising for both text and banner ads.
AdWords works a lot like an auction: you bid money on specific keywords so that your site will appear at the top of the results when users enter those keywords into Google’s search engine. When a user clicks through to your website, you pay the search engine the amount you bid on that particular keyword.
Google AdWords allows advertisers to stay on top of their budgets. There’s no minimum spending requirement for an AdWords campaign, and advertisers only pay for results — you pay each time your ad actually works and gets clicked, not every single time it’s displayed.
