H1 Tag By The IMC Team | Posted February 23rd, 2009
The
tag in HTML code indicates a headline and is written as
,
, and so on down to
. Headlines are ranked in terms of their importance, so an
tag indicates the most important headline, and
tag the least important.
Search engine spiders will consider the content of your headlines when they are figuring out how to rank your page, so you want your
tags to be as relevant to your site content as possible. This means that your
tag should include your important keywords. It should also clearly state the biggest benefit your site has to offer. Graphics, logos, illustrations, menus, links, and other elements should never overpower or distract from the
tag’s content.
