Your confirmed opt-in mailing list is one of your most powerful business assets. It is a complete list of all of your customers who have requested that you contact them via email. It is never appropriate to give or sell this list to anyone.
Even though your mailing list is made up of customers who have requested email contact, it is still worth taking steps to avoid being reported as a spammer:
- Clearly indicate who you are, and who you’re contacting, by using the “From:” and “To:” fields
- Include your offline contact information — Telephone number and physical address
- Ensure your subject line is clear and non-deceiving
- Make your unsubscribe feature obvious
