PPC Pay-per-click

Pay-per-click advertising is a way of paying for a top ranking in the search engine’s sponsored listings. You’ve probably seen these small ads that appear to the right and top of the main search results before. And paying for a top spot in the search engines is one of the fastest ways to increase your website traffic — often for cents per click!

Here’s how it works: You create a pay-per-click ad for each keyword you’d like your site to rank for. Whenever someone clicks an ad on your website, you pay a preset amount that varies depending on the keyword. And since you only pay when someone is interested enough to click on your ad, it can be a very cost-effective way to get qualified traffic. Prices typically range from five cents to numerous dollars per click-through for popular keywords.

Pay-per-click advertising is a great way for brand-new websites to get those first early visitors. But you can also use pay-per-click ads to test the effectiveness of your keywords and ad copy — and these principles can be applied to your entire website!

The top two pay-per-click programs are Google AdWords and Yahoo! Search Marketing.
