Salescopy
Salescopy refers to the words you use to turn potential customers into actual ones! In the online business world, compelling salescopy is crucial because your website is often the only contact you have with your visitors. So your copy has to be able to anticipate and answer questions, explain the benefits of your product or service, and overcome any objections your reader might have. In short, your salescopy has to do the same job a salesperson does in the offline world — without the benefits two-way communication and reading body language.
There are two main types of salescopy you can use, depending on what you want your copy to accomplish: short copy and long copy.
- Short salescopy is used to describe products on a catalog site and in pay-per-click or banner ads. Short copy can range anywhere from one sentence to two paragraphs long.
- Long salescopy is used in salesletters to sell one product or a single service, and it can run anywhere from 8 to 20 pages long! Long copy is also an extremely effective sales tool.
The most effective salescopy — short or long — tells your reader exactly how your product or service will improve their lives.
