Script By The IMC Team | Posted February 23rd, 2009
Script is a computer programming term that describes lists of instructions translated and carried out by another software program. Perl and CGI are two kinds of programming languages that can be used to write scripts.
A common example of a Perl script is the Windows script that indicates the local time on your computer. But scripts can be used to create all kinds of other useful applications, including photo galleries and slide shows, online forms, graphics and animation, and even email filters.
If you don’t have the programming skills needed to create your own scripting applications, check out open-source software sites such as OpenSourceScripts.com. They offer a wide range of scripts you can use for free — so long as you credit the source. You can also hire a programmer to script a customized application for you through freelancing sites Elance.com and Rent-a-coder.com.
