Subscription Site

A subscription site is a membership-based website where only registered members can access its content. Some subscription sites are free — all you have to do is sign up for their email list. Others charge different rates depending on the subscription level. But many subscription sites will also provide content that anyone can access, along with subscriber-only content.

Certain sites lend themselves to the subscription business model better than others. The best subscription sites:

  • Have built up a lot of valuable content
  • Are in industries where information changes quickly
  • Have sticky content that compels visitors to come back for more
  • Deal with content with a lot of scope

A subscription site can be a very lucrative business model because it brings in recurring revenue whenever members renew their subscription.
